Food education at our university was first established in 1983 under the name "Department of Agricultural Products Technology" within the Faculty of Agriculture and began undergraduate education in 1984 with four faculty members and 32 students. Following a program name change in 1987, it continued its education as the "Department of Food Science and Technology." In 1995, it continued its education with a new program, "Food Engineering." Graduates from this department continued until 2001. The Department of Food Engineering was established within the Faculty of Engineering in 1992. In 1999, two faculty members were appointed to the Department of Food Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering, and the department began its operations. In 2002, the Department of Food Engineering within the Faculty of Agriculture was transferred to the Faculty of Engineering. The Department of Food Engineering, which operated within the Faculty of Agriculture from 1983 to 2002, has been operating within the Faculty of Engineering since 2002. In the 2016-2017 Academic Year, our department provided undergraduate education to a total of 704 students, including 452 regular and 252 evening programs, and postgraduate education to a total of 143 students, including 98 master's and 45 doctoral programs, with 11 faculty members and 10 research assistants.
